My Word for 2022 – Boundaries

My Word for 2022 is Boundaries.
🌿
What’s interesting about Boundaries is, I had never heard of the concept until about 15 years ago. (Guess that was an obvious clue that I didn’t have any! 😂)

A little watercolor painting I made of my Word for 2022

They really were foreign to me. And they can be hard to define. I like Nedra Glover Tawwab’s (@nedratawwab) definition “expectations and needs that help you feel safe and comfortable in your relationships… learning when to say no and when to say yes.”

OR you could say Boundaries are Gently Doing What Is Right For You! 😀

I’ve read many, many books on boundaries. But it wasn’t until I read Nedra’s book that I realized that Boundaries also apply to ME! I have to set boundaries with myself too. Like limiting my social media time and junk TV watching (Yes, I admit to watching the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. I can’t seem to help myself!)

It also means making time to cook and walk and do yoga and most importantly, play with Skeeter and Maya. Here’s an adorable pic of my soul companions out for a walk with me around Lake Fayetteville!

That’s Skeeter (white shedding hair 😂) and Maya (brown shedding hair 😂).

There is no doubt that learning to gently do what is right for me is a soul calling for me. And helping others learn to do that too is what I try to do with my clients.

Boundaries really will set you free! And as Nedra says in the title of her book, “find peace and reclaim yourself.”

P.S. If you aren’t familiar with choosing a Word for the year, google it. It’s an alternative to setting New Year’s resolutions. And don’t think it’s too late for you. I have a client that chooses her new Word for the Year on her birthday! So just pick a day and go for it!

P.P.S. If you need someone to talk to or if your life is in transition and you need help navigating the next steps, I’m here for you. You can read about my Life Coach services on this page and schedule a free Inquiry Phone Call here.
