This is a command. A raised voice Rose. A putting the world on notice that I will no longer speak and not be heard.

Tired can go both ways with me. It can be a good thing or a not so good thing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I've worked hard, been productive or had lots of physical movement, and I'm proud of what I have accomplished, that's the BEST tired. It feels like I have earned my tired. It makes me smile. It typically yields the BEST sleep too! And I love that!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then there's the other kind of tired. Emotionally tired. A yucky tired. The tired you inflict on yourself by playing a situation over and over again in your mind. Or a tired you experience when you constantly review something from the past that you wish you could change or do over.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A tired that is clearly about trying to control the past or the future. And we all know that's not possible. So it has no satisfying end. No feeling of accomplishment.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
When I painted this Rose, I wasn't feeling the good kind of tired. She gently reminded me that I had a choice in how I was feeling. (We almost always do. Or maybe I could even say, we always do. But that feels scary right?) I could keep "working on" the problem that was holding my mind captive, or I could take a break. Let it go. I honestly don't remember what I did that day.

It's true. I am an introvert. But I tell people that I play an extrovert on TV. 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I love people. I love doing things and hanging out with them. But then I need a break. My space. Solitude to fuel me. Get me ready to send me back out into the world.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
But, it's also tricky. I can go a bit too far with it sometimes. And then I realize that I'm isolating myself. And that does not fuel me. That does the opposite. It slows me down. It starts to bring me down. It makes me sad.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So THIS is how I know that my time alone is nourishing my soul.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
1. I am creating just for myself.
2. I am moving regularly.
3. I am finding beauty and thankfulness in my world.
4. I am content.

And one HUGE red flag that my alone time has become toxic for me, is when I let my thoughts dwell too much on the past, the unknown future or anything that is not the present. Having NO CONTROL over all of that is uncomfortable and I don't enjoy sitting with that. Ever.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have to reign that in! ASAP! This is how I do it. (But don't get me wrong, I'm never 100% successful in catching these thoughts. I am doing a lot better though!)
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I get physical! I get up. Shake it off. Literally. (Say what you will about Taylor, she has a point!) Give that negative energy some place to go. And that place is outside your body!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Then proceed with your Solitude. 🦋
